Dr. Bronners soap - a staple in any hippy's home.
So a little history is necessary about the Bronner character. He was a real guy, but... quite a character.
He was a German guy, born in 1908 (passed in 1997) to a family of soap makers. To flee the Nazis, he emigrated to the US in '29 leaving his family behind in Germany. His last contact with his father was a post card that simple read "You were right. -Your loving father." Poor guy.
Many people could call Bronner crazy, but I prefer eclectic. He covered his soap bottles with full on rants about "All-One-God-Faith" and the "Moral ABCs" -Absolutely whacky to read- but somewhere in the rant, there are some really good points. Bronner himself was know to answer the phone lines at the Bronner soap co. and talk to people for hours about everything- specifically philosophy.
The Bronner soaps have been used for decades because they are amazing. They need no advertising- because they are a superior product. Their liquid soap product is toted as being "Magic" and truely it is. I use it for pretty much everything.
Bathing, shaving, laundry, dishes, cleaning, washing the car, washing the dog, keeping mosquitos away in the summer. It says on the label you can use it for tooth paste and mouthwash and deodorant... I've tried all of that- and well... its a little unpleasant- but if I ever become stranded without toothpaste I'll use Bronners if I have to.
Best of all are the ingredients Bronners uses. All fair-trade and use hemp, jojoba and other natural oils for healthy cleaning and moisturizing.
The liquid soaps now come in 8 flavors... I mean scents.
The classic is the peppermint liquid soap (keeps the bugs away when your outside) and it has a trademark tinge to it when you use it. My favorites are Peppermint, Eucalypus, Lavander and Tea Tree oil (Tea tree oil itself is a powerful ingrediant- anti bacterial/fungal you name it) Tea tree oil is also very commonly found in hair products.
Peppermint
Eucalyptus
Almond
Rose
Baby Mild (unscented)
Citrus
Lavender
Tee Tree oil
The soaps also come in bar form, and can be purchased in bulk from the Bronner's website.
They also now sell beauty products and other organic treats- but the best for sure is the classic (do it all) liquid soap.
